A Must Win, No Excuses Game

Backup Sage Rosenfels will be starting. Andre Johnson will be watching. The Texans' rushing offense is ranked 30th in the league. There is no reason this shouldn't be a total beatdown by the Raiders' defense, even without Tommy Kelly.

Conversely, the Raiders' offense is long overdue in the touchdown department. Home field advantage is on our side. The Texans have lost five of their last six games, and the Raiders will make it six of their last seven. No excuses. No alternative. I will recognize no other possibility.

This one is ours. Mainly, cause it has to be. Of course, my "do I start Jordan or Fargas" Fantasy question remains unresolved.

RT-

Do you see what the 2-5 Vikings are doing to the Chargers? With Brooks Bollinger in at QB for the injured Tarvaris Jackson? Kinda gives you pause, doesn't it?

Lions are outright spanking the Donkeys. Vikings are holding LT and SD in check.

Whay can't we beat these divisional teams???

Exactly, NYRaider. We ought to tape those games as how to smack the crap out of the Chargers and Broncos.

How about the Lions putting up 44 points on the Broncos with Jon Kitna at QB.

The AFC West is much weaker than I anticipated this year, which makes it even harder that the Raiders have underperformed my rather modest expectations.

You can say that again, RT. I hope NFLN shows that Vikings game on replay, I love seeing San Diego get popped in the mouth like that. Oh, first offensive drive, three and out.

See, scoring TDs in the NFL isn't so hard.

Even Sage Rosenfels & Company can do it on the road.

If Oakland loses to Houston today, is there a real possibilty that they go 2-14 for the 2nd straight year?

The season is over today fellas. Let the Russell countdown begin.

If the season wasn't over yesterday it's not over today.

Maybe they should just quit the current game because it's over?

14 pts is too much of a lead for the Oakland offense to come back from, especially with McCown leading the charge. If Oakland can't beat Houston at home, then how are they going to defeat anyone that is left on their schedule? So the Russell countdown is on. I would give him some snaps in the 2nd half of today's game and then give him even more snaps next Sunday against Chicago. Wean him in a little bit, give him some more experience. Time to start planning for 2008.

Im not even watching or listening to the game. Russell will get called here very soon. Al Davis wants something in return if we going through another losing season.

I don't blame Kiffin at all. He needs to have more player makers on offense and defense. Look for them to make some major changes in the off season. Kiffin is always planning.

Though Al and we are not patient. It could work to our advantage if we just be patient. I hate losing too.

Kiffin play calls Suck major big ones!!! he gets all cutesy down inside the 10 yard line and he doesnt run the ball once to punch it in, instead Mc Clown throwing three consecutive incomplete passes!!! and we settle for a chip shot field goal....

Well that last call was a lot better.

Finally on the last drive inside the ten he runs the ball up the gut with Fargas in for a touchdown...now how hard was that? Finally Kiffin using your head even though i still think its up Mc Clowns ass...should put in Walter instead before Mc Clown throws a pick to lose us the game.

First thing, Fargas was the correct choice. I thought he could carry 20-25 times a game and produce. 23 for 104 plus a couple of catches. He held up his end of the bargain.

Unfortunately I was also correct about McCowan. Two interceptions first half, one in the second half. I just don't see where he gives us the best chance to win. Kiffin really screwed the pooch on this one. And, yes I'm putting this one on Kiffin.

And, yes we can't stop the run. Especially when the linebackers start five or more yards from the line of scrimmage.

Hell, even Schweigert had a good game. But, until we stop the run not much is going to change. Also, our quarterback has to stop throwing into double and triple coverage.

And I reiterate, why draft a tight end as your second choice and not throw to him. Opposing defenses don't even have to worry about short to medium passes over the middle because we don't throw them.

Even Blandarocked has to be extremely angry about this one.

Here's the truth about the 2007, raiders.

a virtually talentless offense, which needs to be totally overhauled.

a defense with NO front four, two very good lb's in morrison, & howard, a couple of pretty good cover corners, but...

a passive D/coordinator who doesn't have a clue.

and, yes, i again echo bama7 diagnoses, a team with no heart, no fight, no passion, no guts, no spirit, and no clue.

the good news ?
a top 3 pick is coming in april.
hope we don't blow that one too.

and, H, i doubt very much that blandarocked is upset at all.
he will just tell us how this situation compares to something that happened in 1969, and how we should really be all that worried because things worked out just fine back then, and...

well, you get the picture.

Blandarocked has an office right next to Al's and he knows exactly what goes on in Raiders Headquarters and exactly how the team operates, so I am sure he will let us all in on it come Monday.

I was angry during the first half and just numb during the second. Its like Lucy pulling the ball just before Charlie Brown kicks it. You just know that somehow the Raiders are going to find a way to lose, and sure enough they keep doing it.

Just as in "The Shawshank Redemption" "Hope is a dangerous thing." Those early wins gave us hope and raised expectations that the team has been unable to meet since the Miami game.

The Raiders continue to prove that you need a solid QB to compete in the NFL. We've not had one since Gannon. Apparently, Culpepper and McCown are castoffs for a reason.

They're both busts as Raiders as far as I'm concerned. Kiffin's musical QB thing simply isn't working.

So Kiffin was right about McCown being more mobile. Unfortunately, he's a boob otherwise. He consistently makes poor decisions. His release is often so late that defenders have already read the play and are position to defend or intercept before McCown releases the ball.

It's painful to watch. And what was up that hail-marry style fling with like 7 minutes left? He’s just throwing it up for grabs. It’s like he wanted throw another INT.

I question why Kiffin chooses to run the ball to end the first half when down by 17. Does he know the half can't end on a D penalty? Why not throw the ball down field and hope for pass interference?

Sims and Gallery. Ughhhh!

Jordan can't run! The first few games were an aberration. He should be waived, Fargas and Rhodes share duties, and Bush given Jordan's roster.

Let me be the first to say that I was very disappointed with Josh's performance. No defence here. He created oppurtunity..for turnover? A few moments of professional football from different players.

Everyone in the AFC West dumps a game today and we can't pick up a W at home against the Texans.

Oh, and we should patent this uncanny ability to lose by a single F'n possession before it catches on.

I really wanted that FG record to. Keep up the good work Seabass!

I just caught the press conference after the game. Rosenfels and Dayne said they would always rememeber this game has special and would mention it at their HOF inductions. Kubiak said, "I've always beat the Raiders when I was with the Broncos, so I expect to win here."
"We saw on film that other really shitty teams beat 'em so we figured, we're shitty, we'll beat 'em too! I was especially proud of my front four. I know that Dayne and Rosenfels are nobodies that looked great against the Raiders but my defense, who no one will ever remember, looked really good!"

So now how do we stay positive in a negative situation....

Donko's got slaped by the Lyons and Jay-Be-Tray went lame....

Jolts got slaped by the Vikes so that's got to be funny to watch Turner on the sidelines....

Squaws were raped repeatedly....

The Raiders "Sucked"....Why was McClown even in the damn game....we all know who he is....there will not be any mirical recovery....just like with AirBrooks and InflatedCollen....they will always Suck....at least Culpepper was once upon a time a good QB and could have a rebirth...somewhere...somehow....

I now say it's time to see JRus...let's see what we have and let him take a few lumps to get ready for next year....we are behind in the devission only by 2 games but even if we could pull out the divission we arn't going anywhere in the play-offs anyway...I say it's time to start thinking about next year and start preparing for it....

When [not if] Kiffin finally gets the ax from Coach Al Davis, where does he go from here? Become a DC or OC or scout for another NFL team? What a long downhill future for a foolish young man willing to accept the responsibility of shepherding Al Davis' gang of underachievers, misfits and track stars!!
