Patriots Gameday Take

Well, this isn't going to be much of a take. The Raiders have a chance to surprise us all with a competitive effort today. By 1 p.m. Pacific time, we'll know if there's a glimmer of hope, or if we're further lurching into oblivion. Bang your takes here as the game progresses.

How bad is Maiava? He cannot even guard Gronk who is visibly limping.
The Defensive pass interference call was bunk, but whatever, Raiders always have to play against the refs.

Playcalling has to get better.

Thanks for the short kick Jano. GEESH!

Speaking of kickers, RIP Bironas. I know he wasn't a Raider but he was certainly one of the best kickers in the League. Prayers to his family.

I don't know if this game is exciting or upsetting. This is a glimpse of what the Raiders should/could be, but we rarely see this.

It is both exciting and upsetting, again indicating that the coaching is to blame. The talent is obviously there.

JUST WIN, BABY!

Great calls on 2nd and 1. Murray into the centers ass twice for 0 yds. You suck Greg Olson!

That is such a Raiders ending to a game. Just when you're THAT close, you tackle a defender to negate a TD, then take your eyes off the ball and have it bounce off your chest into the other team's hands.

Nate, I agree that our record doesn't match the talent in some ways.

But right now, Raiders are a Carr, without an engine. Carr has no WR's, or RB's to lean on.

Anon, why is it Olson's fault if 0-line can't push the D back even one yard ?

Raiders lack the toughness and need a new mindset. That's what it is.

Meanwhile, on a bad Giants offense against the team that smoked the Raiders last week, Rashad Jennings racks up 176 yards rushing and a TD.

Because he is in no way a short yardage back. Does this really have to be explained? Where is Reece? What are the coaches problem with this guy?

0-3 and folks are still making excuses for DA & company. What more do you need to see, 0-10? Look at the third quarters under DA and you know what you don't see...ADJUSTMENTS.

With the 1st pick in the 2015 NFL Draft...

Anon, no explaination needed.

The 0-line is soft. there are no holes, or push back to be seen.

Any running back should be able to gain one yard. Even a Qb sneak wouldn't work.

There's no space to run. Nothing.

What a shame. Carr was solid. Woodson played his ass off.

As stated above, Raiders O-line is soft. They got pushed around (in all 3 games). Wiz is weak in the middle. And I wonder how good Howard is as a T playing G.

Plus, the Raiders have no go-to WRs (for like a decade!). Moore's ridiculous deflection reminds of a game last year that he was matched up on a jump ball in the end zone. He is not a clutch receiver and shouldn't even be in there.

Offensive playcalling was bad. We run the when they stack the box and pass the ball when they are poised for coverage. Coaches will probably blame Carr for not making wrong reads.

On defense, it still kills me to watch CBs playing 15+ yards off the LOS. And any Raiders LB against Gronkowksi is a mismatch.

Mostly, the team played hard despite marginal playcalling on both sides of the ball.

Sorry for the double negative in my post. You get the picture.

But DA and Co will present it with, "Hey! At least we were competitive!"

Deplorable. Just Burn It, Baby!

The O-Line being soft is a reason why Sparano should not be interim HC.

With that said, I expect the Raiders to announce the firing of DA, Tarver, and Olson.

I wouldn't confuse the line being soft with bad coaching. I think Sparano has done well with what he has... he lost Veldheer and has been tasked with playing others out of their natural positions.
