Raiders Kickoff 2021 - Monday Night Football!
Raider Take returns from a long offseason hibernation just in time for the Raiders' 2021 debut on Monday Night Football versus a formidable but beatable opponent in the Baltimore Ravens.
Friends, if you are still here, welcome back, I look forward to your takes on this game and beyond.
I think it's stating the obvious to say that we all hope the Raiders aren't stuck in neutral for another year. They need to take a firm step forward in 2021, or Gruden will have run dangerously low on excuses.
There is much to be optimistic about, and much to wonder about, as we head into the new season. But we've reached a point with this franchise that talk is so cheap that it is effectively worthless.
Enough about Sin City, star power, the shiny new toy of a stadium, Mark Davis's mansion, etc. Distractions, all of them, from the effort, determination and expectations that must be urgently applied to the field itself, in 60 minute increments of action, over a 17-game season.
Let's GO RAIDERS!
Raider Take - Still hanging on for 17 seasons strong!

Just in time, RT. 17 seasons is truly remarkable. Congrats, and thank you for keeping the lights on.
Think of where we've been for 17 seasons. Mostly at the bottom of the NFL and selecting from the top of the drafts, one after another. How did it stay so bad for so long? The last 18 years has been a miserable period in Raiders history but I think we all want 2021 to be that ever elusive next step forward to football relevance.
As you said, there are no more excuses. Gruden was paid to be an elite HC.
It's go time!
We are all in this together, so let's root them in!
GO RAIDERS!!
TAKE!!! Welcome back, brother! Hope you are well, as it has been awhile since we heard from you. 17 years strong, so many takes, so many tears, so many cheers. When you can't make it to the game live, there is no other way to hype up the season than here on Raider Take blog!
I said it in the last thread, my prediction for tonight is 27-17 Raiders win. Looking forward to another season here. JUST WIN, BABY!
Just in!
Clelin Ferrell is a healthy scratch in tonight's game. Huh? Not sure there's anyway to spin that other than it looks like another draft fail. This isn't a third round pick who never played a regular season snap (e.g., Tanner Muse and Lynn Bowden, Jr), Ferrell was the #4 player selected in the first round.
That doesn't look good for Ferrell or the Raiders.
Meanwhile, Ravens have another CB out. They restocked at RB but might be thin at CB. Ravens are tough against the run, so I would hope Derek Carr and his untested WRs are ready for action.
When in doubt, throw it Waller!
It's always great to hear from you guys! Thanks for the kind words and continual takes, have fun tonight, let's keep the takes flowing.
What jersey are you guys wearing tonight? I have my Tim Brown jersey on. I am so jacked right now. Don't let me down, JUST WIN, BABY!
Not the start I would have like to seen from our offense. First drive was going great and then died out when Good got hurt. Need to play better than this.
Aside from Mariota's run, which was nice, the Raiders came out flat on offense. Jacobs appears to be playing through injury and the O-line has struggled. The 2nd year WRs have nothing to show, and Waller is the only target on the team. Carr has struggled but he's playing hard and trying to make plays.
The announcers said it best; it looks like the Raiders offense and defense have switched roles.
Let's see if the Raiders can stick with the Ravens and make a game of it.
Defense is keeping us in it. If Carr can hit Waller, instead of over throwing him, we might be winning. Zay Jones has been open, but Carr hasn't seen him.
The cardiac kids are back. That's what it used to feel like watching a Raiders game. That game shaved about a week off my life.
Too much to absorb. Plenty of mistakes but an unlikely win... I'll take it!
Postgame take is up, bang it there!
