Chiefs Gameday Thread

Do you know how poorly this organization had to be run in order to be in its current state right now, after all of these years of opportunities, high draft picks and coaching regime changes?

It's almost unfathomable to be where we are at quarterback, let alone at our other skill positions. You let a couple of clowns run Derek Carr out of town and two seasons in you're trotting out Gardner Minshew and AOC? While the Steelers alone managed to get Fields AND Wilson this offseason?

Now there's talk of Tom Brady taking more control as a minority owner.

I started this blog 20 years ago. I did not sign up for the LAS VEGAS Raiders brought to you by TOM BRADY.

The sad thing is, the moment Tom Brady steps into the Raiders executive offices, he's instantly the smartest guy in the room by a longshot. He has to be shaking his head at the stupidity that has run so rampant, and he'll no doubt clean it up if he's given the chance,

BUT, I hate the fact that it's come to this point. We're a long way from the Oakland Raiders we fell in love with. A shadow of the past, with a shadow of an owner, whose only hope is the glitz and glamor revenue stream of Vegas and the undeniable smarts of plastic attention-glutton Tom Brady.

Anyhow, today it's the Chiefs. GO RAIDERS!

We can turn this around!
We need to make changes!

We need to do a lot of hard work but we can make this team better!

But some things need to be straightened out!

We had good staff('03-'11, Del Rio and Gruden/ Mayock) and that wasn't the problem.

We have the usual normal team owners, I think MD is a decent team owner so that shouldn't be the problem. he's not a football man so fans shouldn't blame him for the decisions his staff make.

So I don't really need to hear Oh, we gonna have a real football man(?????) who's gonna turn this team around!

Please!!!

He may do good things great things but we don't need that Patriots' way thing and if a new stake holder has a lot of say the NFL will getting more say in the Raiders too.

That means:

more corporate culture

higher ticket prices

more of Al's history and vision being erased from Raiders.

the Davis family being pushed out of the NFL.

I don't know how football smart Brady is but he's there to make the NFL wealthier, yes, guys will want to play for us, the ratings and NFL love will come to us but we had smart football guys but you guys didn't want them to take over for Al.

And BTW....you guys wanted to get rid of that culture maybe not Raider Take but most of you threw Al under the bus!

The Raiders culture was not about being stuck in the past! it was about match ups, finding guys who could play well and getting those stars in FA/ trades to help us win. you didn't want that!

They refused to bring in elite coaches or ANY of Al's ex-staff to help us. now, they want to support an ex-player with 0 front office experience to turn this mess around!

Look, the NFL staged the Adam's trade and didn't want any elite college players, elite HCs' or star FAs' on the Raiders. now, with Brady they will allow it. the Raiders will suddenly be loved by the sports world and will win! but you'd think Raidernation would say that's fake news and phony team. we could've won a long time ago but the league didn't want us to until somebody else leads the Raiders. fans should be loyal to the Raiders not the uniforms- that's a corporation with the name Raiders but a shell.

I didn't know being a football man/exec only took being an ex-football player? I thought you had to learn from front office people and understand how to scout guys. Cleaning house? we need stars and depth do you support another inexperienced guys trying to build this team? we need Brady to know we need house cleaning?

I don't think it was a failure of culture necessarily under Al Davis at the end, but it was a failure to keep up. Cultures can and often must evolve, but can still retain their core distinctions and identity. Alas, I believe that Mr. Davis got "stuck" in certain ways of doing things that increasingly didn't work in the modern and evolving. But unlike his father who had great success and could be forgiven for clinging to ways that worked well for so long, Mark has no such leg to stand on. He clung to an 'idea' of the Raiders without any idea of how to make it successful, a terrible combination. Hence the current state of the Raiders after 10 years in his care, and hence the fact that Tom Brady will run circles around him once the inevitable happens. Mark had a chance to make the Raiders culture a winning one, and he biffed it. Enter Tom Brady, who may build a winning culture, but not a Raiders one.

Yea because firstly, the NFL will throw its' power behind him! that

What I'm saying is we don't need their help or that corporate culture that will come if Brady takes over. Mom&Pop is our culture, corporations aren't all bad and there's nothing wrong with it but corporations don't focus on things like loyalty or just how to make money. that's why fans SHOULD be unhappy with the Davis family selling so much stock in Raiders. I don't want too see the keep losing but the NFL is saying wanna win!? go corporate, no more loyalty just have fun and spend on us! all you gotta do is go corporate, enjoy the stadiums, merchandise forget loyalty, being fair to fans, winning to be the best not for ratings.

But no, fans want the glitz and to be in the crowd party and have fun forget standing up for whats' right and what's right- lets stay away from that corporate culture and try to win with any way Patriots', 49ers but not the straight NFL corporate way.

Ummmmmm.....Take!? we need to make a trade for a QB! we need to try and win this K.C. game and forget TANKING for a rookie QB next draft!

We can win without all the none sense of Brady wants to help with finding/ training a QB fine but to get a spot running the football side of the team? Al can't run a team but Brady can?

I don't like getting too philosophical. I see what I see. It's not about signing "star players" (a suggestion that has been made ad nauseum here) or even getting another OC. The Davis family has failed this organization for two straight decades... arguably longer. Al Davis would never consider hiring a top tier HC. Mark Davis was all for it, then he wasn't. He Hired Gruden and McDaniels (who knew how bad either would be), then didn't even interview Jim Harbough. (In full disclosure, I like AP but I was also all for Harbaugh being fully vetted - which never happened.)

Maybe it was time for Carr to leave, but there was no plan to replace him. That's how bad organizations operate, with no plan.

One beat writer suggested the Raiders have never recovered from drafting JaMarcus Russell.

The Raiders organization has jumped the shark on its fans. They've become a money machine whose home games are attended mostly by fans of the opponent.

It's still October and we're eyeing the 2025 draft, hoping... praying for the next Jayden Daniels.

They are capable of occasional flash, but incapable of success.

It's become an illness.

I think you might be misreading me. Mark Davis has biffed things so badly (including our beloved mom and pop culture) that he's left the door open to getting pushed around by the likes of Tom Brady, and is in fact inviting it by selling shares to him.

"NFL owners voted in favor of Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis' sale of a minority stake in the franchise at the league's fall owners' meetings Tuesday. Former NFL quarterback. Davis sold about 10.5 percent of the Raiders, according to league sources, with Brady and Wagner purchasing about 5 percent each."

Mark Davis the other day: ""It’s just exciting. What I was going to say is we traded Davante Adams for Tom Brady…. Although Tom can’t play, I think he can help us select a quarterback in the future and potentially train him as well. So it’s a huge benefit for the organization.”

Plus: "Tom Brady got the headlines. But Richard Seymour got a seat at the table, too. Via Tashan Reed of TheAthletic.com, Seymour’s effort to purchase a piece of the Raiders also was approved on Tuesday."

PS Tom Brady is now part of a failing culture. He may discover his first career failure by simply tying himself to this organization.

It won't be the first time that's happened.

I didn't watch the game. It only took me 22 years to figure out I'm wasting my time. But I had some interesting observations from media and from friends.

1. Raiders looked decent at times and Minshew was having some success. Then they brought out Ridder for some kind of "change of pace" and it created a false start.

2. three consecutive running plays up the middle at the goal line led to losses and turnover on downs.

3. Munford 2x lined up at WR, the second time led to Minshew fumble.

These are coaching decisions. At some point Getsy and Pierce will need to be held accountable for bad coaching.

The Raiders continue to beat themselves with stupid. It's on full display.

It's not the fault of the NFL, and you can't cure stupid with so-called "star players."

Half the league has jumped the shark. Raiders at 2-6 currently stand 7th in the draft order, and behind the Panthers whose only win was against the Raiders.

I may not be in the majority but I'm not upset by the thought of Tom Brady as a Raiders owner, and perhaps someday taking more responsibility.

I hold no animosity toward Brady for the tuck game. The call on the field still makes me sick, but Brady did what any player in his position would have done, he accepted the results. I learned a lot about Brady during a long interview on Howard Stern. He was actually measured and impressive.

Can Brady correct what is wrong with the Raiders? Who knows! The Raiders have succumbed to systemic failure. It's been baked into their DNA over the past couple decades. It may actually take a transplant from outside the org to right the pirate ship.

P.S. I assume Al had a succession plan naming Mark, but he obviously had no plan for Mark to..., well, succeed. I don't think that's in dispute considering all the times Mark told us he didn't know.

If you get your telescope out tonight you can see the moon and watch it move in the sky. That should prove to you the earth is round.

if you get out your Al Davis decoder ring you can see the NFL is no more involved in the Raiders business than it is for any other team. It's a franchise, like McDonalds. There are rules of operation that everybody abides.

We want:

to win

We want to see this team be great again!

We want to go back to our past glory!

We want to be winners!

But we don't want:

the NFL to lead us!

The NFL got this new stake holder group to get a stake in team.

MD doesn't make decisions he obeys what the NFL tells him.

It's o.k. to just want football and not worry about the politics and business side of a team- but sometimes you gotta look up and/ or think! this is a business and they are about business Al was about football and all of the things he did were his and his business partners' and his business office vision and work. and he didn't want the Raiders to do what a corporation does:

put money over football

over charge fans for tickets, food and parking.

do what 31 other teams agree to do even if its' wrong.

manage the cap and not take chances on stars(spending big) to win.

not give your city a true offer to stay if they'll HELP build a new stadium- like Chargers, new Raiders, Modell's Browns, Warriors and A's did.

To show no/little loyalty to the fan base.

Take,
I agree with you. How bad does this organization have to be ran to not be able to turn things around? Raiders with a game they could have won, but 3 runs up the middle trying to score a TD, with not shot for Bowers to score is absurd. Getsy is not the answer at OC. We are seeing the fruit of letting Carr go a few years ago without a back up plan. We are seeing the result of Telesco not wanting to give Kingsbury a 3 year deal to be our OC. We are seeing the result of a high-powered defense, with no offense. We can never seem to figure out how to have both.
I wish I had the $$ to be in Brady's shoes. But really, how much can he do for us when he's in the broadcast booth? I hate that he is a part owner, with the ability to take over the way Al Davis did. Scary....

For decades the org has been its own worst enemy. But in the short-term, the team has been more talented than its coaches. That goes back to McDaniels and Gruden, both of whom were outcoached by their interim replacements.

But Pierce has so far in 2024 been a disappointment. He doesn't seem in control of the situation and apparently has doubled down on running the ball more, something the Raiders have been grossly ineffective doing. If that's his way of tanking (for a QB in the draft) it will probably work. Is he determined to punish the fans with more futile play calling.

Hondo Carpenter wrote about the offense, "the play calling has been terrible."

He also wrote "The Raiders aren't good enough to beat themselves and their opponent."

Carpenter is right on both counts.

The article pointed to the Raiders offense clicking on scripted plays to start a game, but it fizzles after.

Thankfully, I'm not the only one seeing it. IMO, anyone suggesting the Raiders merely need more talent is not watching.

Running four plays up the middle at the goal line against the NFL's #1 rush defense was more than a mistake. It was stupid.

And the Raiders think so little of their passing game, they have Munford lining up at WR2.

I never expected Pierce to call plays, but I also didn't expect he would hire a totally incompetent OC. My Bears fan buddy warned me. He was right!

Blogger nyraider said...

I need to add to that... simply selecting a franchise QB will not solve the Raiders problems. They need better coaching.

Put another way, if the Raiders somehow were able to secure Jayden Daniels in the 2024 draft, their record might still be 2-6.

Coaching might still be the biggest hurdle they face.

Maybe Tom Brady can shed some light on that. You can bet he's watching.

Get your Corona Virus news and try to be ready for the winter before you take the shot! you should try to learn about those vaccines before taking them. they may not be the best thing for you. try to get more info on the vaccines and try to get your medicines and get well without taking a lot of/ any shots.

Give Brady a supervisor/ trainer then he might help but right now A.P. is in charge and the Raiders might want to look at other HCs' for next year if he can't get it together!

Lets see if we are still supporting Brady/ NFL by end of season. will he stick with A.P.? we have some good players/ coaches on this team and we should give them some support! fans should write Raiders and thank them- we should write the team. we are in a huge Nation its huge and we should see the fame and size of of our fan base its' one of the best in the world! have fun and talk to each other more.

NY, we don't need to have a super star fix it show! we need a lot of football people. that's the "feel good", hype thing the NFL has done for us. can he help us? can he succeed as an exec, does he know how to make football decision? can he turn this team around? maybe, but we need experienced people to make decisions.

You think another new regime will fix the mess and you defend the NFL! but you should know:

Mark doesn't make football decisions! he isn't the problem on the football side!

the NFL won't let the front office spend big or bring in elite draft picks. Bowers and Mack are the only guys that were elite in the draft.

The Davis family did so much for the NFL and helped create Raidernation! why do fans want to throw them under the bus?

The NFL is very much happy where we are at!

Fans need to post/ talk to each other!

Have fun at home watching the game.

I think the Raiders need to remember the old, poorer fans and lower those prices.

There are folks who will spend big at the games but the older fans shouldn't be priced out! now, L.V., L.V. stadium bosses/ employees, NFL and Raiders have spent/ worked hard to create entertainment and food events/ services for fans but they could be a little considerate of the poorer fans and have cheaper/ lower prices.

K.C.'s time(s)

'60s'

Won AFL West but lost to Packers in 1st SB.

Beat Raiders in AFL Championship game and beat Vikings in SB.

Have been to SB 3 times over the past 5 years.

But the Raiders mostly dominated the AFL in the 60s' and the AFC West in the 70s'.

NY,
I think AP's biggest problem is that he has too many chiefs in the room. I love that he went after Marv Lewis as Asst Coach, Joe Philbin and Rob Ryan as Senior Assistants to the offense and defense, and has Tom Coughlin there as a voice of reason for him to improve as a Head Coach. AP has surrounded himself with people he views as mentors; but how much sway do they have over the OC? Are they working well together? Is the same message being sent across the board?
In my experience, the more chiefs you have, the more convoluted the message gets. I think he is going to have to let some of these guys go; or make these Sr Assistants the OC and DC. I truly believe this is where his problem starts. Then it filters down to Getsy and James Cregg.
But let's be honest, this is what Mark Davis is doing in the front office as well. Sure Telesco's the GM, but AP worked better with Champ Kelly, now add Tom Brady and Richard Seymour into Football Operations. What will their roles be in this? Will they have more say than the GM? The coaching staff is a stark reflection of Mark Davis and the Team's front office. Both are now operating in the same disarray. We keep firing the canons; but the canons are pointed at our own ship.

Nate, I'm done with the benefit of doubt. None of those coaches are doing anything to help the Raiders, including pointing out the obvious. I've been watching film to educate myself. I'm trying to understand what's going on. I've come to the realization that Getsy should be fired. If not, Pierce needs to go too.

I don't say that lightly because I lobbied for AP to become HC.

What I found in media review of film was shocking (stuff that wasn't obvious to me just watching the game).

The Raiders regularly run to the weak side of their line and get stuffed. We saw it Sunday, and we saw it with the Steelers and JT Watt's dominating performance.

Sunday, they failed two short and goal situations. One series, they ran four straight zone blocking plays at the goal line. ZBS is used to create holes in the middle of the field. Power blocking is used at the LOS. How can the Raiders be so clueless?

Also, I watched several failed pass plays which showed the Raiders do not implement check downs. How is that possible?

And when did you ever see Minshew call an audible? He doesn't. The Raiders just run the plays they are given.

I falsely assumed the NFL was a pretty level playing field in terms of understanding and implementing methodologies. However, there are incompetent people running the Raiders offense right now, apparently, including a list of has-been HCs.

The Raiders operate in the most mindless offense in the NFL.

That's compounded by the fact the Antonio Pierce is regularly guess wrong on the sideline. He has a game manager to help him make the right calls and they both suck..., be it challenges, kicking FG vs going for it, etc. He's been guess wrong.

Mark Davis should be embarrassed that he didn't interview Jim Harbough.

I'll repeat (for full disclosure) I wanted AP to be HC, but I've always said that Harbough should have been vetted.

Luke Getsy is a major handicap for the Raiders. He hasn't prepared his offense beyond scripted plays to start the game.

Minshew would be a serviceable 8 or 10 win placeholder QB on another team, like he was last year on Indy.

Best scenario. The Raiders lose out and get a new (professional) coaching staff and draft a top QB.

Crosby deserves better. He should demand a trade, ala Adams.

Sorry for the rant. The Raiders are a bad team of their own making!

Its' just that we are listening to hype and game plans made by NFL execs who really don't care about fans or the real Raiders.

You can't be an NFL front office worker and work like this there has to be some reason you're doing these things! you're not building you're moving the roster and keeping this thing going but that's it! that's TANKING!

We had the same question when Reggie was hired! we blamed Hue for trading away high picks for a pro bowl QB and didn't win but we thought Reggie would find us 1. well he sure did with Carr but he also ruin the roster around him/ K. Mack.

What we need isn't a guy who won a lot of SB rings we need a football exec who knows how to find star college players. fans want to win but to be so silly is sad.

NY Raider,

Reggie- did nothing in Oakland went to Bills

D. Allen- was fired by team is now the HC in N.O.

G. Olsen-?

B. Musgrave- Al hired him 1st then he comes back and helps develop Carr. Raiders didn't keep him. I guess fans want him to be the OC.

Del Rio- lead Raiders to the playoffs, a Raiders' fan. but Raiders fired him- was DC in Washington.

R. Bissicia- some fans thought he should be HC. was let go.

J. McDaniels-?

M. Mayock- did an o.k./ so-so job as GM. Raiders fired him and coach Gruden- he was on a sports talk show or/ and podcast talking football and his time with Raiders.

Gruden II- got us 5 first round picks by trading our best players. only 1 of those picks was a pro bowler- some say he was seen wearing K.C. clothes. he has his QB show?/ program and is in court suing the NFL. did a good job as Raiders' HC for the 2nd time.

A.P.- did a good job as an intern in '23- some fans are questioning his job and want him fired in '24.

T. Telesco- did a decent job in first year as GM. drafted elite TE Bowers. with Brady coming on board he may not be here next year.

wow NY you sure can come up with some great reasons to cheer for the Raiders...to cheer for them to stop doing this ridiculous moves and try building a team by spending more and making more big moves before the trade deadline.

If Brady can help us- fine!- but we might want to let other execs help build this team and why not other legends and NFL people as front office execs instead of just Brady and Seymore? wow! fans get so zapped and brainwashed they'll go for any game plan. If the Davis family sells this team our culture and Al's era and the things the Raiders did for pro sports/ NFL will be erased.

How do you go from thinking of a team to going back to a 1 man show?

Al the 1 man show:

AFC Champions in '02

Defending AFC Champions in '03.

dominated the AFC for years in the 70s' and 80's except for Denver and San Diego.

helped start the college combines.

Helped players fight the owners/ NFL's "new" CBA.

But no, we don't want that anymore we want Reggie, Pats' guys and A.P.! NFL tells us what to do now. the Adams' trade a "feel good" story and all this new stake holder hype! just gonna support this plan and not question it? another inexperienced NFL created regime gonna build a winner?

That's exactly opposite of what I've been saying. You're so busy typing about the 60s and 70s you missed the first quarter of the 21st Century.

And the notion the NFL is involved in Raiders coaching or roster moves is completely false. You can't find a single whiff of media to support that.

I lobbied hard for AP too, and so did the players and captains. AP lobbied for Kingsbury as OC and want to move up for a QB, Telesco turned both down because Kingsbury wanted 3 years; and he just wasn't going to move up the board. AP also added all of his mentors to the coaching staff before Telesco got there. I believe the biggest problem is too much noise and differing opinions on how things need to be done. Getsy should lose his play calling ability. We have this week in Cincy, and then a bye week. If we lose big in Cincy, and the offense stalls out, Getsy should be gone. If not, it won't be long until we recycle what we always do; clean house and start over.

Nate, IMO, you're only scratching the surface. We can't control what's already done, but we can look deeper into what exists, and so should Pierce.

The Raiders are running a completely mindless offense that's, well, offensive. They are wrong in their approach and regularly lack the checkdowns and safeguards that virtually all other teams employ. They run zone blocking on goal line plays, which I didn't know why that was wrong until it was explained to me. They often run to the weak side of their O-line and into the strengths of the defense, e.g., into Chris Jones or JT Watt. Maybe that's not unusual but we've seen the results. Teams watch film of the Raiders and know exactly how to defense them.

It was embarrassing to discover these shortcomings.

There are enough former head coaches on the Raiders staff to point these things out to Pierce. Pierce shouldn't need media or bloggers to explain it to him.

I'm not out of patience for a rebuild. I've run out of patience waiting for stupid to correct itself.

We're eight weeks in and there's lots of film review on the Internet. This offense is as bad and misguided as I've ever seen from the Raiders... and that's saying something.

It's not just the players! Getsy is incompetent. Unless Pierce makes a move, Pierce should be fired.

I'd rather blow it up now than wait and watch the same mistakes next year. It won't matter who plays QB.

and food services at these stadiums-, fans think they have it better than somebody else! that's nice/ good for the fun but the amount of money and lack of parking and out of city areas' these teams sometimes move to its' taking money from tax payers/ cities and fans.

Fans don't think they're being scammed and over charged because they like the glamour/ stadiums and entertainment and, if their teams are winning that is enough for them.

But the lack of commitment the corruption the taking of too much public money and the mediocrity and clownish/ comedy of the 'game' should make fans question this fad and system of the NFL.

Fans can have those things most but some they may not need/ question. but sometimes just having a little is good too. what about football? going to a game to watch the game and cheer for your team to win or finish the season with a winning record if they miss the playoffs. Raiders' fans want to party but complain when their team isn't spending or focusing on football.

So the idea is to have a terrible season, get high draft pick, select a Qb, and off the Raiders go.

Word of caution as we look at Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Will Levis, Joe Burrow, and Trevor Lawrence. It doesn't always work.

Even the good ones, Daniels, Stroud, and Caleb Williams, still have to get past Mahomes/Swift. Something, Lemar Jackson, and Josh Allen still haven't done.

A better model for the Raiders to follow, I think, is the Steelers. They never stray from their roots, which is strong defense, a powerful running attack, and a rugged passing game.

If you look at their defense, they have an impact player at every level. Watt on the D-line, Highsmith at LB, and Fitzpatrick in the secondary. They have other good players too, but those are the main guys.

The Steelers have shown the ability to complete a team, something the Raiders have not. The Raiders have strayed far from their roots, and cannot seem to get back on the track.

But the idea that the Raiders are just one hot shot young Qb away from turning things around is ridiculous. The way things are going, they will either blow the pick, or the Qb will be very good, but the Raiders will never complete the team around him. Sorry to say it, but that's just the way it is.

Raiders were developing into a decent team in need of a QB, then lost it.

They had Davante Adams! Michael Mayer fell off the earth. They let Jacobs walk, though they had the resources (cap space) to keep him.

In fairness, they hit a buzzsaw of injuries. Koonce went to IR, Crosby was injured and now Wilkins is out. Epps also went to IR

Now it's clear they also lack coaching. It won't matter who plays QB if the Raiders don't find a better OC. Luke Getsy is an idiot.

As for a QB, they don't have many options. They have to draft. And if they don't pick at the top of the draft, they end up with someone else to compete with AOC for the better of two backup QBs.

That's what happens when you dump your franchise QB without a plan.

Pierce should take a hard look at why the Raiders were able to run the ball at the end of last season but can no longer run. What changed?!

Getsy brought a flawed system to the Raiders and he doesn't even know how to run it (pun intended), just like he couldn't in Chicago. People get fired for a reason... but the Raiders swoop them right up.

Raider Nate,

Al-Anon

You really think football is that easy to learn? and you think Al was in the past and all of these young OCs' and HCs' know more than he did or the game changed over the '03 off season? now, you want to blame the bad decisions of the new regimes for the losing all of them!? you mean Brady and his partners like the Warriors' ownership group, is supposed to come in here and turn this comedy show around!?

But anybody that Mark gets' advise to hire is a good pick and you'll just support them because well, they are NFL pro staff!?

A franchise QB is a great idea reaching for 1 isn't! can Brady teach a young QB? is he the guy to sign FA's? do the Raiders want him to help with the draft? will they let him draft their QB? do they want him to draft guys in different positions/ game plans?

So, you didn't think the guy who helped build the modern NFL and created Raidernation his ideas/ vision isn't good enough.

So, he was never really that important or great as an owner/ GM because any smart or ex- star football player can make football decisions?

Again, the losing made you move on from Al. but you knew the things he did for and in the NFL. you are questioning the guys Mark hired.

But this time you're gonna go with a guy with no front office experience? when did he become a "brilliant" or "genius" or front office "smart" guy?

Why do guys have to be inexperienced? from winning programs? from the Patriots!?

You had and know what a football man looks(works) like and you said we don't need that anymore because these younger, modern NFL guys know how to build a winner.

The NFL will come up with any scheme to make money so if they want the Raiders and want a new ownership that sound great because you think it will finally start winning. you sure are right! mainly because the Davis family will be minority owners/ gone. oh, they'll back the new Raiders and they'll probably win. no more refs and strange scheduling, fines and players/ coaches staying away.

The team will be cheap, look a lot like the Patriots' dynasty and it will win. but you know what? it won't have a culture, doesn't have a connection to Raidernation, won't do anything for the NFL players to help them, will be America's team it will be about money, glamour, conservative spending but it won't have the same ideas, vision and culture of the real Raiders.

NY, I think you hit on the key point. The Raiders let Carr go without a plan. They let Jacobs go without a plan. They have coaches and players that are a mismatched and don't quite fit together.

The Raiders never have a plan. At least not a good one.

That's why I point to the Steelers. They always have a plan. The same plan. They know it works for them. Do they have a "star' Qb right now ? No, but they are 6-2, and winning games in all kinds of different ways.

The Raiders don't know who they are. That is why they have a hard time forming a solid plan. It's a shame the Raiders lack an identity, Because Al Davis spent nearly 50 years building up one of the greatest team identities in sports history. but now they are an aimless franchise, going from one failed regime to the next. They are led by Mark Davis, and after almost 14 years of being owner, he doesn't have a clue.

Someone gave me some great advise years ago. When dealing with a big project, if you're feeling overwhelmed, just start somewhere. it doesn't matter where, just get started, and before you know it, everything will start to fall into place. In my life, I have found this to be true.

So my advise to the Raiders is to just start somewhere. The D-line, the O-line, a group of LB's, anywhere. Just start building something, and take it from there.

Happy Halloween!,

Al Anon

Mark is a honest guy and an average team owner. he doesn't make the football decisions! he isn't good or bad because he doesn't make the. he needs to have a clue in some things like the game plan of the team, how fans are treated and how they should look for a QB and spending on free agents. but he's only able to or should have a clue on a few things like other team owners. some owners know more about football and can work with their staffs. but others are just owners. Mark isn't making/ doesn't make decisions. the staff he allegedly hired are the guys you want to blame/ question. you wanted owners that won't 'meddle' with their staff. so, you fans need to stop throwing the Davis family under the bus.

Al Anon,

When Mark Davis hired Telesco as GM, that is a football decision. When Mark Davis is selling shares to Tom Brady, and Richard Seymour, and giving them a say in how Raiders are run, that is a football decision.

When Mark Davis gives John Gruden a ten year, $100 million dollar contract, that is a football decision. You can't escape the reality.

In your world, Mark Davis sits in a chair in his office and stares at the wall all day while "other people" run the Raiders. That's not the way it is.

Ghost, starting somewhere is good advice but the Raiders never reach the next level before it's back to square 1. As Jerry Seinfeld once said, anyone can take a reservation, it's holding the reservation that makes it work. The Raiders can't hold the reservation.

As for the identity, Al Davis built a world-renowned brand. He won three SBs and thrived for decades behind his iconic shield. Even when the Raiders failed as a team, the brand stayed strong.

But failure lingered too far long and the brand has suffered. The Raiders have failed an entire generation of fans. The Raiders are no longer hated and revered. They are a pathetic shadow of what they once were.

To be certain, this didn't just start with Mark. He's just carrying the torch, as it were.

Ghost!

Al-Anno

Hey happy Holidays and Halloween and rest of '24!

I don't know if you've read my posts! but I don't believe these Raiders since '11, are interested in Raiders' vision/ legacy! I think they are working with the NFL. does that sound o.k. it should! because you think they want to help all 32 teams. and some fans thought we needed a lot of help! and man did we! media/ said we needed it and some fans listened.

The fans listen to thing that seem to make sense the Raiders were losing despite having awesome talent and a genius owner. but the media was saying a new vision is needed and they hyped a new staff, they claimed this team was in a mess left by a senile dysfunctional man and fans should support a change/ over haul. that fans will be better off with better team, they'd have guys who will put them in a better spot. but are they?

Fans are looking for somebody to fix and turn around this team and they go with what the media/ NFL says. they think the modern way and that NFL people are our best hope but they need to look at what has happened since '11:

The Raiders are the only team in pro sports'

that won't hire elite coaches

that only drafted 2 elite college players over a decade.

that refuse to spend big on star FA's.

that refuse to trade for/ sign a decent QB.

that keep giving teams high draft picks for star players in trades, but then don't build around those guys and trades them for low draft picks.

that will sit good players on the bench then use them when the season is almost over/ lost.

Oh yea, they're still hated!

1. by the owners for causing problems and slowing down their plans("new" CBA).

2. for going public about the NFL/ owners and corruption.

3. for suing the cities of L.A., Oakland and the Tampa Bay Bucs for copyright issues.

4. for helping NFLPA Pres. G. Upshaw and the players against the NFL/ owners.

Its' the fans who got charmed/ conned by the NFL! they saw all the glamour and power and the media who works for/ with them hype up the modern NFL and go after Al's losing streak and how much he needed to step down. fans soon started supporting the leagues side of the issue.

Haters probably laugh a guy who built the NFL being thrown under the bus by the fan base he helped create. if he caused this mess then he might need to let somebody else make more decisions, step down, or be boss but let others bring new ideas/ visions to team and let them use some of those ideas. but there seems to things I look at and they don't really make sense. some of those bad teams were full of talent and good staff. and it's hard to believe those Raiders' teams couldn't make the playoffs at least twice over a 9 year period. so, again I say maybe Al if he was to blame for the 9 year slump then fans have a point but its' just not making sense when you look at him and his team from '03-'11(9 year slump).

To NY Raider,

Al-Anon

O.K. trade deadline's a week away!

So lets:

trade Meyer and keep Harrison.

they don't or refuse to use their top TE unit when healthy so they might be able to get a CB for a young TE.

they should sign TP2 and look at trading for Stafford for a 2 year contract and a playoff run next year. those 2 can help keep the team going maybe make the playoffs while we teach the rookie QB to be an NFL QB. maybe Brady can find a good/ great QB in the lower rounds or help draft a 1st rounder.

put the hot seat under A.P. and L. Getsy and P. Graham .P. should try and get back ups in games. Getsy should be asked to stick to the "west coast" offense and A.P. should ask P. Graham to use his LBs' more- he should use more players and he should use 3 LBs' in his defenses.

they should make some trades before the trade deadline and they should try to get the DL some more help.

They need to give Brady time to learn to run a staff spot before letting him make decisions.

They need to bring some FA DLs' in.

They could make some trades for some DBs'.

and they could make trades for

they need to look at NFL people and look hard before listening to them about big trades and they could use old school contenders like Steelers, Cowboys(90's), 49ers and Al's era to get ideas for big trades.

they need to trade for some DBs' and/ or some LBs but a big time RT might help.

they could re-sign WR H. Refroe.

The Raiders have issues but they have some things they could do better. but the issues they aren't at fault, outsiders are ADVISING them and they need to start getting them out or telling them to help them to win and work with them.

You don't have to have a 1st round pick QB to win but it is a smart move SOMETIMES.

The Raiders can win with a good trade for a young veteran
QB!

Plunkett a free agent QB 1st round pick drafted by the Patriots signed by Raiders won

Gannon a free agent QB, drafted by the Patriots

J. Hostetler lead Raiders to the playoffs in the 90s'.

AFC West situation

LACs' J. Herbert elite young QB. coach Harbaugh will build a defensive team so Raiders may not deal with any Gates, Winslow's or Alworth's.

K.C. P. Mahomes is a star and elite. K.C. has an elite offense and a good defense. Raiders need to bring in stars and draft elite college stars to finally take down K.C.

Broncos- Raidernation needs to stop letting media play games with them. why even listen to them put down on AFC West teams? they game is to hype Raiders but tell fans how bad AFC West might be. when we get lit up by them the media talks bad about us. Broncos are defensive team. Nix doesn't have the best offensive talent but a strong defense would help him. Denver is a defensive team but could be a balanced team(good on O and D) if they can find TE's/ WRs. Raiders need to build a fast, big defense to shut them and Chargers' offenses down.

Raiders are not a very good team and fans are being hyped with silly talk of a team just a few players away and some ex-players are gonna turn this team around because they won a lot and were on a dynasty is being silly because the Raiders need front office veterans who know how to find talent.
