Broncos Gameday Thread
I'm kinda out of words at this point. I don't know what this team is trying to do. If they're tanking, they picked an awful year to do it. If they're not, that may be worse. I can't believe that after ALL of this we find ourselves at square one. It boggles the mind. Thanks, Mark.
These two words I know: GO RAIDERS.

RT, IMO they have no choice but to tank. Do we really want to end up in the middle of the draft in a year which QB1 is a priority and there are no viable free agent QBs?
If I'm Mark Davis, I pull the head coach aside and tell him to make it look good.
The missteps are too many to count, but you said this before; the Raiders released Carr without a plan at QB.
McDaniels started the current spiral with that move.
Pierce hiring Getsy as OC negated any momentum from last year. Then the Raiders were decimated by injuries.
Losing is their forte. Top 4-5 pick should be a slam dunk.
Any other position but QB and I would never be in favor of tanking. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Might be our only chance to break the cycle.
If there's any doubt about my position, here's a headline that should remove it.
"The Broncos are playoff contenders, and quarterback Bo Nix is a rookie of the year candidate."
Six QBs were drafted before the Raiders picked #13, and Nix was taken with the #12 pick. This year's draft is not nearly as deep at QB... top to bottom, but it's all the Raiders have.
Raider Take,
Al-Anon
I'm a Raiders' fan not a laundry fan! I don't cheer for uniforms. I would like some of the old things like commit
Since when did fans become business side fans? you are 1 of only a few fan bases that had an exec and maybe the most interesting and glamorous in pro sports and you said "please step down".
Yea, you are supporting more inexperienced guys having say in this team! You want GMs right but you threw the most popular 1 under the bus! Al could run a whole team but you thought he should step down! I'll keep saying it!, I just don't see how/ believe he ruined Raiders because of his own rep and the talent on the team over that 9 year slump.
So, we support getting another regime this time we think ex-players can help build this team and that MD should keep selling stakes to billionaires/ corporations! but we don't think a man who helped build the modern NFL should keep his team or let his culture be with the team.
QBs' and the AFC West:
true there are 3 teams with star QBs'
Nix- questionable but looks like a decent starter.
Mahomes- elite
Herbert- elite
new regime's QBs: Minshew, Jimmy G., Carr, Cook, Flynn, Schuab, Ridder, McGloin, Mariota, Lienart, Hoyer and Peterman.
Al's QBs'(last 9 years)- Garcia, Boller, Brodkowski, Collins, Brooks, Russell, Culpepper, C. Palmer, TP2, Fry, J. Campbell, Walter and Gannon.
This is silly, Al's guys weren't that bad but these new regimes kind'a didn't get it right sometimes. Carr was a true Raiders and who knows where Cook or Mariota could've done as back ups for us if the Raiders had worked on winning and building up the team and giving them good coaching and talent to help win with.
Al's ideas/ vision or, another old school contender/ winning program might help us.
Gardner Minshew with a broken collarbone, out for the season. Raiders average 35 rushing yards per game. AOC due to be back vs Chiefs for Friday.
Same ol crap, different year. If we are not struggling offensively, its the d that sucks. If the d is good, the offense sucks. Cant win for trying
Ho hum, big yawn. Another Sunday means another Raiders loss.
The turkey was served early this year, the turkey being the raiders.
NYR...Bo Nix + Sean Peyton = rookie of the year candidate. I doubt Nix would be having this success with the Raiders coaching staff. Donks played it smart, picking on #25, Richardson all game, who can't cover to save his job, who's man was wide open all the time.
High draft pick for the latest "Qb of the future". We could laugh til we cry.
Interestingly, through the bad coaching, firings, injuries, etc., the players are still playing hard for Pierce and he's has not lost the locker room. He might not be a good HC but he is as advertised, a leader of men.
Raiders may have an opportunity to grab Daniel Jones at low risk. I'd be worried that Jones could lite a spark and perhaps win a couple games which, IMO, would be bad for the Raiders.
Jones could be a placeholder for a drafted QB, but I'd rather the Raiders ride out the season with Ridder... who certainly isn't a risk to win a game.
This is all too familiar.
NY, the only viable quarterbacks in my opinion are cam Ward and Sheduer Sanders. Hopefully they can get one of those too my preferences Sanders I would give Pearce another year only because the injuries were so bad it's hard to tell or blame him in terms of results. What are your thoughts. Sandy

Al-Anon
Peyton was part of the Raiders' staff in '03 for a few hours/ days until SOMEBODY told him to reject/ quit Al. Its' not the fact that the Raiders refused/ refuse to interview elite HCs' they don't do much to help the "leader of men" coaches they hire! well, as much as Raidernation refuses to deal with- IT TAKES A GOOD/ GREAt GM TO HELP INEXPERIENCED HCs' SUCCEED!
That's right! good coaches can build/ help build good teams but if they have great GMs' they can build a elite/ win for years or have some success. Here are some guys who helped their HCs' win:
Al Davis
the Rooney's
Bill Walsh/ John McVay
Bobby Betheard(Washington/ Chargers)
Jimmy Johnson and Dan Reeves are really 2 of the inexperienced HC's who rebuilt their teams without a lot of help but Reeves had some years as an assistant.
To NY, if the Raiders are allegedly TANKING the players are just fooling around and their hard work is to just play around not to win.
If there are only 2 elite QBs in this draft I think the Raiders might be smarter to get an elite defensive player and find a good/ star veteran QB. The Raiders may miss out on a star but, they also have had a hard time finding a "Franchise QB" maybe if they motivate/ work with their personnel dept. they can find their "Franchise QB" in later rounds. with some hard work/ taking some long looks at college QBs' and with some advise from good staff and maybe Brady's advise/ helping find 1, they can find their QB in lower rounds.
We had a good team and they decided to fold before the season started. but they didn't try to make a run just for motivation and to be ready for '25. TANKING makes the game shady and corporate. I'm not saying it's not a good idea sometimes but with only 2 elite QBs' this year it might be a good idea to let them go ahead of you because this could be decent to good picks but not elite players. they may become stars but there are good QBs' in lower rounds and we could use star CBs or OLs.
Sandy, I'm on board with that plan. Pierce gets a mulligan for Getsy but no more excuses. Sanders could be a freak like his dad. It wouldn't be boring that's for sure. Dual threat QB. Raiders have never been that fortunate.
I'll go a step further and suggest perhaps Scott Turner should remain as OC. There's good lineage there with his dad, who sucked as our HC but had some chops as OC with others. It's a two-for-one.
I think we all knew, or at least suspected the Raiders still needed a QB. This season is not a huge surprise, IMO.
To Raidernation,
Al-Anon
Players are playing hard but they are being told/ made to just fool around because the team is TANKING!
They want a QB in the draft but there are only 2 according to other Anon! maybe they should look for a "franchise QB" in lower rounds! these 2 may be stars but they could be only decent/ good and not worth spending a high pick on. we need star CBs' and OLs' and maybe they should go after them.
NY said N. Turner "sucked": I've said it before, Al made a good choice with Turner as HC he proved he was good with SD Chargers and kicked our butts and was a top 10 team for years there.
There are some very questionable, different and almost comical/ joke ideas by the Raiders for '25 and maybe Raidernation needs to ask some questions:
1. of 31 other NFL teams? why did Brady pick the Raiders?
2. what team EVER let 2 ex-stars run some of their front office without interning/ or getting some experience in the front office or as coaches/ scouts?
3. why didn't Raiders sign a decent veteran QB before the season?
4. what is Brady's job as a front office guy? what will Seymore's job be? will they help build the roster?
5. if Brady make decisions on the QB why is he being put in the HC search conversation?
Daniel Jones ? Sure why not. He used to be a decent Qb, before he was terrible. Nothing to lose by giving him a try.
To Raidernation,
Al-Anon
We are TANKING and there isn't much to talk about but- the fact that NY doesn't think there are conspiracies in the NFL!
TANKING sometimes is a conspiracy!
But do you understand/ see the Raiders' game plan? the facts and IMO this is what they might be saying to us/ planning:
1. give T. Brady/ R. Seymore big say in the Raiders' front office.
2. to let Brady advise them on drafting a QB to let him teach the rookie.
3. to let Brady and Seymore have say in the draft in '25.
4. to get wealthier by selling stock to more billionaires who allegedly, can't get majority/ ownership of the Raiders.
5. to possibly bring another new regime THIS TIME!!!!
No Conspiracies against the L.V., L.A. and Oakland Raiders?:
"Tuck Rule"
9 year slump with a genius GM
the ref's flag party during Al's era.
S. Peyton being hired then quitting.
R. Moss and D. Gabriel trades
Reggie firing ALL of Al's employees over a 3-5 year period.
pricing out Raidernation from the "Death Star".
Telling/ selling fans that these billionaire stake holder don't want to own the Raiders.
the Raiders in debt even though they are worth billions?
they have no game plan except that T. Brady will give them more ADVISE and, R. Seymore will too.
Daniel Jones?: yea, and they should bring in a lot of veteran QBs' to see if they can help us in '25:
S. Rattler
TP2
M. Stafford
C. Rush
M. Mariota
M. Barkley
B. Young(Panthers)
#2(Steelers)
D. Carr
R. Tannehill
T. Lawrence- but only if they won't ask for more than 1st rounder.
The Steelers love drafting QBs' in the 1st round and like to maybe the Raiders can trade down for a lot of draft picks or some of the Steelers' stars.
Jacksonville they can trade for T. Lawrence and the Jaguars' 2nd round pick and maybe a 5th round pick. the Raiders get their QB and extra picks and Jacksonville gets a high 1st round pick and get an elite player. Raiders can draft a CB and OL help with those extra picks.
To Raidernation,
Al-Anon
Sorry, about the trades for Raiders IF they don't like the QBs' in the 1st round. maybe the Steelers want to move on from their 2 QBs' and draft a rookie and work on him to start later they may want a star college guy sometime teams like to have a new guy over a veteran.
Ghost, I read somewhere that Jones would be a cheap, low-risk option for the Raiders (so this time it's the Giants, not the Raiders who get fleeced). He's better than Minshew and could be a stopgap to Sanders or another rookie next year. The options in free agency are scary thin.
Jones is (will be) a free agent. Raiders could swap him with Ridder. I think he'll be owed about what the Raiders were paying Minshew, which is second-tier QB salary, at best. I think the Giants still owe him money. Not sure exactly how that works.
LOL, I just read that Jones has weighed in on his future home and he said it WON'T be in LV. He doesn't want to play for the Raiders. Can't say I blame him.
It doesn't matter what the Raiders do, we know they won't get what they want or need.
NY, we don't want Jones God forbid we start winning a few meaningless games and don't finish in the bottom three. Sandy
Worse, Jones doesn't want us.
Raiders are in a race to the bottom.
Giants look like the top seed right now and they need a new QB! Unfortunately, there is no way they will win another game. So, even if the Raiders lose out, the Giants control the top pick and the consensus best QB in the draft.
Giants dumping Jones was bad for the Raiders.
To Raidernation,
Al-Anon
We don't need to worry that much about a QB if the team's whole focus is a "Franchise QB" in the draft! all we need to do is go for 1 in the 1st three rounds- maybe the 2nd round!
A "franchise QB" is very important but its' not the only way to win in the NFL! some teams have found stars in later rounds and some go with veterans/ star veterans. but its' a lot of stress, anxiety and probably arguing in the meeting room to pass on the top QBs. sometimes a team may feel the best college QBs' aren't that good and will pick in later rounds. but it takes a good front office to make winning decisions.
here are some teams who didn't draft 1st round QBs' and still won:
S.F.- Steve Young, J. Montana and M. Purdy.
L.V.- K. Stabler, J. Plunket(FA).
Washington- J. Thiesman(FA), D. Williams(FA), M. Rypien, S. Jurgensen(trade).
New England- T. Collins, T. Brady.
New Orleans- D. Brees(FA)
LARs'- K. Warner(FA), V. Faragamo
GB- B. Favre(trade).
Denver- J. Elway(trade, but he was a top talent/ elite and already a 1st round pick), E. Manning(FA), C. Morton(FA).
Now, you have to be good at or look hard/ long at guys in lower rounds but you can find a good player sometimes.
Al didn't put too much into 1st round QBs' and the Raiders had success. other teams like Washington loved veterans over 1st round QBs' and other teams won with veterans and lower rookie QBs' too.
This team needs a lot of help and since we don't know if they'll spend big for FA stars they'll need to have a great draft. QB is the problem no, I mean if they go for a 1 in the 1st round they'll miss an elite player or a chance to trade down. I thought they would put focus on a QB in the draft and put their best staff on it and if legend/ stake holder Tom Brady can advise them maybe they can find 1 in lower rounds and pass on 1 in the 1st round.
The Raiders need a lot of help and maybe a CB or OL might be the best move in the 1st round. but a QB isn't a bad decision it's just maybe they might find 1 in lower rounds. they could trade down in the 1st round and get more picks to build a roster and maybe talk playoffs in '25. the Raiders could try the old school way trade down and draft for defense some of Al's vision might help them. not just Al but other legend's ideas.
To other Anon!
Boring? Really? you get tired of me and NY Raider arguing over the mess that is the "new" Raiders and the drama/ dysfunction that was Al's era!
Well, I really would lover/ like to make things more interesting/ exciting for you.
To me I think posting about the Al era and conspiracies are exciting.
To NY Raiders I guess its' looking at the future. then I'll post about the past(Al's era) a little
Now, I'm gonna try and talk about the future and see what you think about my post!
What we should do is bring back what would sell in L.V.- the old Raiders' culture! size, speed and loyalty!
make the AFC West their house again. Al knew he wanted to beat the AFC West to be able to at least be a wildcard team but also he wanted it to be the best division in football. but the Raiders to be the best in that division.
We talk about 'Megatron', Farve and others but Al had good enough rosters to win in fact it's almost impossible to have had so many problems/ losing with those kind of players. only in Oakland? is there more to it?
QBs/ C. Palmer, TP2, J. Garcia, K. Collins, A. Brooks, D. Culpper, R. Gannon, J. Russell.
RBs/ DMAC, M. Bush, C. Garner, M. Reece, T. Wheatly.
WRs/ TEs'- M. Jolly, C. Anderson, C. Schillens, R. Moss, J. Rice, J. Walker, Z. Miller.
DLs/ D. Burgess, Chris Clemons(Seahawks), T. Kelly, K. Wimbley, D. Tollefson, D. Bryant.
LBs/ G. Beikart, B. Rominowski, T. Howard, K. Morrison, R. Brown.
QB/ D. Carr, M. Flynn, M. McGloin, M. Leinart, Jimmy G., G. Minshew, AOC, D. Ridder, TP2, C. Palmer, M. Schuab.
RB/ L. Murray, J. Richard, Richardson, J. Jacobs, DMAC, Zeus, Mattison, M. Reece, M. Goodson.
WRs/ TEs- D. Waller, Cook, A. Cooper, D. Adams, H. Renfrow, M. Crabtree, J. Nelson, M. Meyer, F. Foreau, J. Meyers, C. Patterson, James Jones, D. Jackson, B. Bowers, Antonio Brown(DNP), J. .
CBs':
T.J. Carrie
J. Jones/ fans feel he's a star CB but its' hard to tell since teams go after the other DBs' and the over rated pass rush didn't really pressure QBs' a lot this year.
K. Bennett/ had a few good games and then got injured, he's has to play more before we can make a point about his talent or issues:
LBs/ Roach, K. Barnett, R. Spillane, D. Perryman, D. Deablo, N. Bowman.
DLs/ A. Smith(49ers), J. Tuck, D. Tollefson, T. Kelly, B. Irvin, K. Mack, A. Butler, C. Wilkins, M. Crosby, C. Jones, #91, M. Koonce, C. Ferrell.
Well, Al's guy's had other talented players around them and a good front office. RB seems to been 1 of best units over 9 years and WR was 2nd with outstanding sometimes and good units other times. OL had good/ average times.
New regimes' best units were WRs/ TEs' outstanding to elite units and OL had some big time years. RB was average and QB well, had issues w/ some good players(D. Carr, M. Mariota and C. Palmer).
Al's defense should've been top 10 they had talent and good assistants leading them. new regime can't really be called bad or mediocre because they never went over their money/ system and spent big on star players or drafted elite defensive players. but their defenses have been up and down mostly mediocre but some very good 1s.
Al Anon your post sucks
Happy Thanksgiving and have a happy New Year!
O.K. sorry but its' time to stop talking about new regimes and what the Raiders should've done.
fans
1. 2 ex-players who are stake holders are gonna turn this franchise around and have say in the team's draft but they have no front office experience.
2. that fans are tired of A.P. and Telesco and now are looking at another regime.
3. that fans want Mark to sell because they think an ownership group like the Warriors' will make all the right decisions- people who don't know anything about football.
4. Mark NEVER made any football decisions and had told fans he lets' his front office do it. yet, then think he's to blame for this mess.
5. that a Bellichick or Vrable will turn this team around when the Raiders have for years, made some of the most re
6. that its' o.k. to tank for a "Franchise QB" instead of trying to win out and maybe be missing out on 1 of 2 so called elite QBs' when this team is horrible in the secondary and could use an elite CB.
To other Anon, part II
Al-Anon
We could try so
7. to keep selling to other people until the Davis family is out of football, forgetting what Al did for us/ NFL and expect inexperienced ex-football stars to make decisions for us.
8. to not have discussions/ complain with each other about the over charging and ridiculous game plan(Brady/ Seymore running some of team) they are planning.
9. to not tell the Raiders to get experienced, elite front office people and let Brady and Seymore help w/ rookies and DL/ QBs' but not run the front office.
Maybe I suck but this is fact. Raiders aren't the Raiders they are the Lav Vegas NFL.
To other Anon, part III
Al-Anon
Sorry, correction-
They are the biggest scam and money scheme in pro sports.
You're unhinged. Nothing you post makes sense.
2 dudes ex-players are going to run a front office w/ no front office experience? nobody does that and even Elway didn't just become the Broncos' GM because he wanted to be or over night.
TANKING for 2 QBs' w/ an ex-superstar QB who claims he's gonna help find a "Franchise QB"? can't we find a steal in lower rounds if we work hard and put some front office guys on it and w/ Brady's help or just his advise, find us a good/ star QB in lower rounds?
supporting a team that has done nothing this year and r
listening to media/ fans who claim you don't need star players just leaders to win?
to watch K.C. use the biggest, fastest athletes, Denver big, press CBs' and to not have interviewed J. Harbaugh for the HC job this year and expect to win?
priced you out of the "death star"
done nothing to build a winning football team for years.
And you want to put down on/ call me unhinged? I may be nuts/ need counselling or help but you guys need serious rest and heavy coffee if you still believe these guys want to win.
I don't see how refs can call the play dead, and then give Chiefs the ball on a dead play.
K.C.
speed, size and athleticism!:
Oh, its' true a lot of teams have won who didn't use these things too much. the Broncos(D. Reeves) and the Patriots(B. Bellichick) proved it can be done. they could prepare for anybody and had the defense w/ schemes and good players to slow teams down and win games or/ and give offense a chance to or help them score more points to win games. but other teams like star players, exciting players and Al was 1 of them. he wanted speed and he built good teams and then had speed to cause matchup problems against teams.
K.C. and us and Al's era:
pass rush- for decades K.C. has always found good pass rushers at all position. Al could find them in free agency, UDFAs' and the lower rounds of the draft but K.C. usually drafts' its stars in the 1st three rounds. hey, that's great for them but just saying Al could find good pass rushers. our team found 1 late round star(M. Crosby and M. Koonce) over a decade of new regimes running the Raiders.
KC loves speed we've been lit up by it for years.
J. Charles
T. Hill
X. Worthy
D. Ford(edge)
We can't keep up with them but fans buy into the coach 'em up/ Bellichick way.
Al wanted to win and speed was a way to do it. now, we are slower but we don't do like Bellichick we get lit up by fast teams. its' not just that we don't do well it's that we don't try to get better players. speed might help look at other teams. if we get more speed maybe it will help us. maybe if we use more Al's vision it might make us win. or, K.C./ Dallas ideas it doesn't have to be just about speed it can be star FAs' too. but we should look at K.C. and see maybe we some speed or/and their ideas or some of Al's or Dallas' ideas.
IDK, that was a solid game. It accomplished two things IMO. We saw the Raiders play with the Chiefs for 4 qtrs but they didn't win. That's a win/win for a 2-win team vying for a draft pick.
If we're calling conspiracies (like Al Anon does ad nauseum), I would say the Raiders took the ball to striking distance on their last drive, then threw the game.
If not, it was a rookie mistake. So what!
The Raiders offense looked improved, against a tough defense. Power-Johnson is an upgrade from James, just like Scott Tuner is an upgrade from Getsy. And McCormick looked good too. It was a team effort and the Raiders showed plenty of heart.
A third win in this season would have been another step toward mediocrity, with no chance of escape. Who needs that?
It looks like Norv has taught Scott how to play to the strengths of the team and not scheme. Blocking and run game was the best we had seen all year. Team seems to play differently with AOC too. McCormick was awesome at UTSA, and never understood why he was on practice squad. Now he is out there lighting it up. I saw a lot of positives in the game on the offensive side of the ball that struggled all year.
Not sure about conspiracies, but found it odd that the refs blew the play dead, and still gave the ball to KC at the end of the game. I guess that was their Black Friday special.

To NY Raider,

Happy Holidays!
Well happy Raidernation!? and you too NY!?
I guess this is a big moment it hurts but soon we'll be on top of the world!
Not that A.P. and Telesco are star front office guys but they might have to go to get us a top QB and maybe Brady might want his own guys anyway.
So, we are TANKING and its' just waiting for the last game of the season.
Is there something wrong with this situation? good teams try to win and they work hard or get the elite/ top staff to find college stars to help them win.
They don't TANK! that's something we've gotten from the great NFL.
We can get our staff to focus on a QB in lower rounds in fact a special group of front office guys to find 1 and w/ Brady helping, we can maybe find him. then, we can draft a defensive player with the 1st round pick.
To NY Raider,
Al-Anon
Our great game plan for a front office and a big turn around to a winning team:
1. to let a guy who IS a legend and super star run the front office but he won on the football side and has no front office experience.
2. to 'just sell' stake to 3 guys(Brady, Wagner and Seymore) without any long time to think about it and because they'll make the Raiders wealthier but will they be happy being minority owners?
3. to go after the top 2 QBs' in the draft and TANK '24 for him and Brady/ Seymore when they could draft an elite CB, DL or OL and go after a QB in free agency or lower rounds. w/ Brady, they might be able to find 1 in lower rounds and not stress over elite QBs' in the draft and go after other positions in higher rounds.
4. what will Seymore do- help coach the young DL? you're giving your front office to 3 guys w/ no experience?
To Raidernation,
Al-Anon
Winter is here! get your medicine, check ups and over-the-counter medication for the flu and colds.
Get your info on local food banks and donate if you can.
Be very careful there is a Tsunami warning in CA and fans need to check on their loved ones in Humbolt County. Tell them to stay away from the Ocean side areas.
To Raidernation!,
Al-Anon
We could make our defense special in the '25 draft but the would mean trying to find our future "franchise QB" in lower rounds. we don't need a RB so badly that we get 1 in the 2nd round! that makes sense but its' not that big a need and the Raiders refused to keep/ get an elite RB for years.
So, Brady/ Seymore will make decisions for us!? not an old scout, personnel dept. guy, an old assistant or an old HC as an adviser but an ex-player in fact a super star and future HOF'er but w/ no experience as a front office guy and another ex-star player who will do what? coach up young DLs'?
You're fans but you're also spending a lot of time/ money on Raiders! you thought Al sucked after the SB against the Bucs but he was 1 of the best GMs' in pro sports but you want to support a game plan that seems questionable and very strange? why? desperate want to win? these 2 know how to win and might make us winners? BTW...why didn't anybody else make this kind of offer to them? even the team they made winners(Patriots)?
Does this make sense? isn't this the same kind of con game we've heard since MD took over? oh, this guy will fix the mess
What mess!? the Raiders had an elite secondary(C-Wood, R. Woodson) and a good D. they had an elite WR unit(Rice, T. Brown and J. Porter) and a top run game(Wheatly, Crocket and Garner) all in '03 and a decent staff(maybe) but they couldn't win 8 games in '03 after being defending AFC Champions? it was bad decisions- nobody wanted to play for Al- they lost their motivation after a bad SB loss to Bucs? Well? that's what happened to us? We got bad fast and it was all Al's fault? do you still beleive that?
There are no conspiracies just sucking and senile Al?
Food banks can use donations and if you have
Conspiracy?
Al's Raiders what he did to get Raiders winning again with future Bucs' HC J. Gruden:
Al had slumps sometimes, even the best teams do but he made changes and with HC J. Gruden's help, built the Raiders into an elite team.
4 years later('03) the team is loaded with pro bowlers and good players but it can't win. Al tried to hire a new HC but he quit the job. yea, he QUIT he didn't reject the offer- see, somebody told him to not work for Al! then suddenly, the HC says the team is "the Dumbest team in America!" really? the defending AFC Champions? then, media has a huge negative coverage run on the team
Callighan was the HC in '03 only because his job was to work with Al! and no it wasn't Al's fault they lost in '03 it was- I don't know, it makes very little sense.
Who was scary/ top teams in the AFC:
SD Chargers w/ D. Brees and rookie L.T. but they didn't yet have that terrible N. Turner as coach.
Baltimore/ they had a defense and a strong run game but the offense wasn't that good. it was the kind of system you guys felt was 'in the past'. great team but of
Pittsburgh/ a very good team loaded, had the defense like the Ravens but the offense too. an elite AFC team.
New England/ o.k. well, Bellichick and Brady. a SB Champion but still Raiders' had the offensive and defensive talent to beat them and this was before they became elite.
Indy/ before they lost a lot of guys they had an elite team.
None of these teams were so good that they could keep the Raiders down. true this is a long list of teams but the Raiders were just as good and in fact had more stars than most of the teams on this list in '03. I would put Rice, C-Wood, Woodson, T. Brown, Garner, Weatley and Biekert against any team's roster in '03.
No it's not Al's fault for the losing and it's not bad decisions or dysfunction or a curse or the culture it was/ is the NFL.
Its' them that came up with Brady being an owner and making decisions for the team. its' not that we don't know something is wrong/ questionable, its' that they keep hyping none sense and telling us its' to make us better. and that anybody but Al's ideas can help us and we should listen to the none sense that the Raiders announce for the team's future.
To Raidernation,

Football is suddenly very boring for us? tired of trying to stay interested? well, that might been the game plan from the start! Did you think they decided to TANK because of a few loses this year? no! they want a "Franchise QB"! that's how new regimes, yes, maybe another 1, sometimes behave.
TANKING!? a whole season? oh no, its' only bad decisions and bad staff, then they got this great idea- "Hey, since we suck, lets TANK the rest of the season so we can get a QB in the draft"!
We could get an elite defensive player or an OL but no, its' got to be 1 of the two top QBs'. now the Raiders may have a plan to have a special group look for their QB or maybe they should have 1, so they will be very focused on a QB and may try to steal a good 1, and w/ Brady they may be able to find a good 1 or a star that's not seen as a 1st rounder and make him their future QB. they could trade down and get more players or again, draft an elite DB, DL or an OL.
TANKING!? we could've went for the playoffs and even losing had a better team ready for '25 and we could look for our QB maybe trade up for 1. we go for anything the media/ NFL tells us. maybe we should question the Raiders'(NFL's) game plan and say we need to do better and let other have say in the team but guys from Al's era and Telesco's job and not let outsiders have say in the front office until they learn how to be football men.
