I didn't realize Kirk Cousins jumped the shark. I'll bet the Falcons would like to have his contract back. That's what I'm worried about if we were to sign Sam Darnold (assuming Darnold would even sign with the Raiders).
I have to hand it to the Raiders for playing hard. Nobody appears to be mailing it in. The team is playing hard and staying competitive, despite playing QB3 who's only been with the team a few weeks.
Playcalling was good and bad. Not sure why they took every snap in shotgun. Must be a limitation for Ridder or JPJ.
The defense is the star. Despite giving up some big runs, guys stepped up. Raiders better bring back Spillane and Moehrig. These guys are free agents and really part of the core of this defense. They should also bring back Butler and Chaisson... probably Jenkins too. If healthy, the defense isn't the problem.
But we don't know anything. The entire structure is on the brink of getting blown up again.
Happy Holidays!!! Raidernation!!!! Go Raiders! still a fan/ still supporting our team!!
They TANKED the season before it started! they did if for Brady and a "Franchise QB" in the '25 draft!
As for playing hard think the NFL is trying to make them look like they are just a few years away from being good?
Yep, the NFL is still suspicious and hateful but its' gotten friendlier now and will get closer/ nicer to us with Brady coming in. did MD tell us Brady will "have huge part in the Raiders"? and nobody asked- ummm....to do what?
When did you hear of Brady's/ Seymore's scouting/ coaching talents or if they had anything thing to say/ ideas about(talking to media/ fans) the draft? so, why are we listening to media/ MD about this situation? there's no elite front office people to try and hire to help us build this team?
So, are we supposed to be happy that 2 inexperienced front office guys will run the team? will they ask Brady to work with the QBs'? is he in charge of finding a "Franchise QB"?
And Seymore? you guys didn't even think Al should've traded for him! wow! will he work with the DLs'?
Who has ever done this or close to it- in pro sports?:
J. Elway, Broncos/ GM or team President.
M. Millen, Lions/ GM
E. "Magic" Johnson, Lakers/ player-coach.
G. Halas, Bears/ player, coach-owner.
J. Lynch, Broncos-49ers/ player, GM and scout.
Well, these guys spent time learning to be front office guys, I don't think owners told them to just go make big decisions. maybe Lynch was the closest to being thrown in there to run a front office but he showed he knew how to scout players.
"Magic" maybe was close too and he was coaching while playing for the Lakers for a few games but I don't think/ know if he scouted players in the off season. so, yes sometimes ex-players can do some great things and be good GMs'/ coaches but they have to/ usually learn the job/ 'the game'.
I said it at the beginning of the season, this would either be an awesome season, or a terrible one. I was skeptical of the offense coming into the season, and very skeptical of Getsy. The fact that we did not pursue a QB, let Josh Jacobs go, and the question around Getsy as OC made it difficult for me to believe we were going to turn it around.
However, I did think, at the time, that having some experience would help and possibly be the difference maker. Instead I think AP has too many cooks in the kitchen.
I'm questioning if AP is the right choice here, and then I go back and think that he wanted Daniels as QB and wanted Kingsbury as OC; and ended up with neither. I'd like to see what this team can do under him with a competitive offense and OC. Like NY said, nobody on the team is mailing it in; but our offense is the biggest glaring weakness.
We cannot run the ball; our team averages 78 yards/game. We have more 3 and outs than any other team in the NFL. It's atrocious that Ridder was our leading rusher on MNF with 28 yards! Alexander Mattison is the team leader in rushing for the year with 341 yards on 104 attempts, and Sincere McCormick is in second with 183 yards on 39 attempts. The longest rushing attempt on the year was Ameer Abdullah for 40 yards. The Raiders have 1,093 rushing yards as a team, on 303 attempts, for an average of 3.607 yards per carry; FOR THE YEAR! Compare this with AJ Cole, who has 54 punts on the year with 2,641 Punting Yards! We had a chance to re-sign Jacobs, or to outright sign Derrick Henry; Telesco said no.
Minshew leads in passing yards with 2,013 with 203 completions, while AOC has 899 with 86 completions. We have 15 TD passes as a team, and 6 Rushing TDs as a team on the SEASON!
The Raiders are dead last in the League in Rushing, 11th in the League in Passing, Tied for 31st with the Patriots for scoring offense. Their defense is ranked 12th in Total Yards, and rank 27th in points allowed.
We all know the Raiders had plenty of cap space to sign Jacobs. Not sure about that thought process.
I thought this was interesting. Media reported that Mark Davis is still paying on contracts for Jon Gruden and Josh McDaniels, and the author speculated Davis might not want to add Antonio Pierce to that list while he pays yet another head coach to come in and run the team.
Raiders are a mess. It's almost laughable, the hole Mark Davis has dug.
I think we can set aside our lack of confidence in any of the recent coaches and place all our uncertainty squarely on Mark Davis to get this right.
MD doesn't make football decisions its' the front office that has done it for over a decade.
The media told us owners/ GMs' shouldn't mess/ 'meddle' with their staff. well, Al was 1 of the GMs' in pro sports history but Raidernation said "Thanks but step down Al"! now, they want to give their trust, hopes and money to Brady and Seymore.
Because they won and what else? did they intern, interview for a front office spot or go to an NFL/ college team and do a little coaching with the young players?
We go for anything but when somebody says go with proven winners or their ideas-systems we all of a sudden got a lot of negatives. you've seen the NFL ruin the culture moving us to L.V. and not letting us hire elite coaches/ GMs' but you support their plans when they get us inexperienced staff and try to make it seem like a great move.
Just because MD doesn't make "all" football decisions (he definitely makes some) doesn't absolve him from responsibility. To be honest, the only person I really thought was on the right track that he hired and got rid of was Reggie McKenzie. I thought Gruden was headed in the wrong direction, and McDummy put us even further behind. NY, Media has pushed the "Mark Davis has no money" story for the last several years. Just isn't true, he has more $$ than ever right now. Yes, he has dug himself in a hole. I don't think he is paying on Gruden's contract, because Gruden resigned his position, wasn't fired. Not sure if coach contracts are guaranteed or not, especially if they resign. He is, however, paying off McDummy and Ziegler's contract. And wouldn't you know it, Ziegler was hired as an advisor by the Saints, and all of a sudden the Saints don't like Derek Carr. He is paying AP minimum, so it won't hurt him any to keep or rid him. I still wonder if he is setting up to sell the team completely. I've said it before, I don't think he will as long as his mom, Carol, is alive. She is an owner too, but turned her responsibilities over to Mark. I'm not sure Mark ever wanted it. Mark has laid the groundwork to sell, and continues to do so. Then the question becomes if he sells, will the new owners keep it as the Raiders as we know it?
but you are looking to the future! you want the NFL way! you want to listen to people/ corporation that doesn't care for the 'real' Raiders and you still think somebody can come from the outside and take us back to 'glory'.
Yes, old great regimes fall/ go away and its' up to new staff even ownership to run the team but sometimes you have to have some kind of thinking and questions for good/ bad subjects.
MD didn't make the decisions that are ruining this team. your heroes/ big shots-execs, the NFL and corporate businesses are!
This is a marketing move- a corrupt, shady 1, that is about ruining Al's legacy, taking the team from the Davis family and turning the Raiders and making big money.
All MD had do to do was:
let Al's last employees run the team and if they sucked then let Reggie bring in new people.
keep the best of Al's players and let the 1's over paid but not producing go.
Keep Hue as HC and again, if he sucked- fire him and let Reggie pick a HC or pick from Al's last staff to replace Hue.
No MD didn't hire Reggie or the Pat's guys- it was the NFL/ owners.
It was the staff, not him who made these decisions. you got angry with Gruden/ Mayock over their terrible decisions but understand the NFL wouldn't allow them to spend or do things without the league's permission. and the NFL doesn't want any old Raiders around MD anyway.
When they do something that is ridiculous you guys accept it! not because it isn't ridiculous and none sense but because you want to win and will go along with anything the NFL sells us.
Nate, if Davis is entertaining selling the team entirely, he's dumber than he looks. His minority stake sales are likely at a discount because each sale requires approval and lacks liquidity. It's a partial interest. Effectively, he would lose money by selling the way he's been selling.
I don't think that's the plan. And if there was ever any doubt Davis has loads of money, that was removed when he bought LV Aces on a whim. They proceeded to win 1 or maybe 2 championships.
I have to say, the notion that Mark Davis isn't involved in football decisions is ridiculous. Yeah right, neither was Al Davis. Give me a break. I've pleaded with the author of that statement over and over to support anything he posts with media reporting, obscure blogger post or even family member account. He can't, but he keeps making the same obscure and nonsensical posts.
Raidernation in '12 "Al ruined this team"! we love him he was great once but he lost his touch/ skills"! 1 of the things he did was 'meddle' with his coaches"!
MD "I know what I know"! I don't know football so- I let(or I'll let) my staff handle that side of the team"!
NY- I already proved my point a long time ago. MD said he doesn't know football. he also probably didn't know the guys hired as coaches! he is an owner he hires people to run the team. he didn't hire people to ruin the team.
MD didn't hire any coach except maybe, Gruden II.
Some strange things that need to be questioned and why it seems somebody/ people are in Raiders giving MD ADVISE:
Other owners don't have the legacy that owners like MD and the Rooney's have their family members ran these teams and it's a little strange he'd sell a lot of stock to outsiders. it seems like some plan to become Raiders' owners why not make sure it stays in the family?
when did MD get the big idea to bring in Brady/ Seymore? he doesn't know these guys!
If he made move other than maybe, Gruden II why haven't we heard of any moves he made/ had ideas about?(p.s. they say he was all in on the Carr draft pick).
why didn't he say anything about the elite coaches/ assistants(Bellichick, Harbaugh, Peyton, Gruden III, Saban, Phillips, L. Frazier, C. Kubiack, Klingsbury or Bienemy)?
What Al or other big time football man idea did he use/ come up with? what good/ bad BIG idea did he come up with trying to win?
NY, if you gonna make claims you shouldn't defend people/ team and a league that sucks like this.
Al Anon, you haven't "proven" anything except that you're willing to go out on a limb which nobody else will follow.
Suggesting Mark Davis doesn't know Richard Seymour, who played for the Raiders, or Tom Brady, who the entire world knows, is absurd.
You are a rare breed. Someone who has no hindsight. I wouldn't think that's possible, except for reading your posts. You speak about the Raiders like you were in the room, while also disregarding an entire media responsible for following their story.
Google it. Show us anything that supports a single claim you have made. Cut and paste a single URL and say, "this is where I read about "XYZ" and it helped me form an informed opinion."
No other team has asked Brady or anybody else to own and run their team lately and none have ask them to run a front office!
"Magic" was asked to be a scout for the Lakers and I think he owns some stock in the team but he was fired as a scout or resigned! he may still own stock.
M. Jordan owned the Bobcats and worked with/ practiced with the young players and may've scouted for his team but he didn't build a contender. he was a decent owner and he was a super star/ HOF'er but he didn't turn the Bobcats into a contender.
J. Richardson owned the Panthers and they won but he didn't run the front office, he probably talked to some of the young players but he didn't run the front office.
Is that the qualifier? Some other team has to ask Brady for his help in order for it to be legit? Otherwise, he's just a plant by the NFL to sabotage a team that has lived in the basement for 22 years.
Do you hear yourself?
How did John Lynch become GM of the 49ers? NFL plant?
Maybe you should stop pretending you know what's going on. Being a former player doesn't disqualify anyone from ownership or management, and it certainly doesn't make them an NFL plant.
Tom Brady might be exactly what the Raiders need.
BTW, if the NFL is sticking it to Mark Davis and the Raiders, they need a new plan. Mark Davis is flush with cash and can live his playboy life in the lap of luxury, Vegas style. Gee, I guess the NFL showed him.

The Raiders are an AFL team
they helped make the NFL 'modern'
bought the "bump and run" DB system/ to the NFL.
helped create Raidernation
helped minorities get a lot of opportunities
and set the standard for winning
